Former Inter defender Nemanja Vidic has officially announced his retirement after recently leaving the Nerazzurri by mutual consent.

The 34-year-old decided it was time to hang up his boots after injuries took a toll on him causing the former Manchester United centre-back to fail to register a single appearance for the Nerazzurri this season.

“It’s time for me to hang up my boots,” the Serbian told ManUtd.com.

“The injuries I’ve had in the past years have weighed heavily on my performance.

“I would like to thank all the players with whom I played with, all the managers and various staff with whom I worked with and say a big thank you to all the fans who have supported me over the years.”

The former Red Star Belgrade player retires having won a number of accolades, most notably five Premier League titles and the Champions League during his eight year spell with The Red Devils in England.
