Genoa coach missing former winger after Juventus defeat

Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has acknowledged the absence of winger Diego Perotti after losing 1-0 to Juventus.

The Grifone were undone in the first half when Juan Cuadrado had his effort turned in by central defender Sebastian De Maio.

“We did well, even in the second half, we were able to prevent them from exploiting us,” Gasperini began in his press conference.

“It created a bit of difficulty for us as we defended so much, but I am satisfied even if we came here looking to leave with points.”

Genoa had to wave goodbye to winger Diego Perotti this week, who completed a much anticipated move south to join Roma.

“It was obvious we would be weaker without him, but I am still satisfied with the performance on the field,” he continued.

“We have to find replacements for those who depart, we interpreted the game well but didn’t make the most of chances.

“After we conceded we risked being caught on the counter attack, we could have drawn this game,” he concluded.

Genoa are now just five points away from the relegation zone, with both Carpi and Frosinone on 19 points.
