Ghana Under-20 striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom believes his team mates have found the strong mentality required to make an impact at the African Youth Championship.

The Genoa striker hopes the seriousness exhibited during the eight-day pre-tournament camping in Naivasha, Kenya will be replicated in their Group opener against Nigeria on 18 April.

"We are all aware of the task ahead and everybody is determined to make a name for himself. We are all willing to die for the nation and do well," Boakye told GHANAsoccernet.com

"We know the historic of this tournament and we will fight hard to defend the trophy but let's qualify for the World Cup first."

He is the only player with senior team experience after enjoying cameo appearances for his club in the Italian Serie A.

Boakye-Yiadom emerged top scorer for Ghana during the qualifiers by scoring four goals in four matches.
