The Ghana Football Association has appointed FC Cologne assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko and veteran Oti Akenten as scouts for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The third coach, whose name has been withheld, will also monitor title favourites at the tournament which begins on 21 January.

The trio will strengthen Ghana's technical team as they seek to win the African title for the first time in 30 years.

"We have appointed Ibrahim Tanko and Oti Akenten to scout on our opponents at the tournament," FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told Accra-based Joy FM.

"They will be monitoring our next opponents.

"The third coach will also be scouting on other title favourites at the tournament."

Already, Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has employed a video analyst who has been assisting in his tactical preparations for matches.

Ghana open their campaign against Botswana on 24 January in Franceville before playing Guinea and Mali in Group D.
