Ghana FA boss leaves for Africa Cup of Nations draw

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi left Accra for Malabo on Wednesday to join his colleagues on the Africa Cup of Nations organising committee to inspect facilities for next year's tournament.

The leader of Ghana's federation travelled with GFA executive committee member Mr. Ansong ahead of the draw of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Black Stars have been seeded for the biannual showpiece to be co-hosted by Gabon/ Equatorial Guinea.

Both Ghana and Ivory are the top seeded teams of Groups B and D while the co-hosts, Equatorial Guinea take A and Gabon placed in C.

"There are no favourbale draws because every team that has qualified did so on merit and so we can only hope for the best," Nyantakyi said in a recent interview.

"The next Cup of Nations will be very tough for us but I believe we have enough men to help clinch the title for the first in over 20 years

"From 2008 when we won bronze we improved in 2010 by winning silver so it is just a matter of course that we are favorites for gold n 2012."

The remaining twelve teams will be categorized into three Pots (Pot 1, 2 and 3) based on their results in the last three editions of the ACN in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

The remaining qualifiers are Angola, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Libya, Niger, Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia and Zambia.

They make up the field of 16 for the tournament from 21 January 21 to 12 February.

The four-time African champions be based in Malabo for the Group matches.
