Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi has urged calmness amidst a Fifa disciplinary hearing which could award points to Zambia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
The African champions suffered a shocking 2-0 loss to Sudan in their opening fixture but have since lodged a protest to the world governing body over the use of an unqualified player by the Sudanese.
As a result, Zambia is looking to be declared winners of that game which will place them above Group D after two rounds of matches.
If the Chipolopolo are awarded the points, it will put them three points ahead of the Black Stars in the battle to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil â⬓ a prospect which somewhat heightened fears of Ghanaââ¬â¢s diminishing chances of a third successive qualification.
The Ghana FA boss however says the focus must be on helping the Black Stars win the remaining four matches which will see the team progress to the final round even if Zambia end up emerging victorious in their protest.
ââ¬ÅZambia have made a protest and Sudan will have to mount a defence,â⬠he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.
ââ¬ÅAs at now FIFA has not decided the outcome on it but it can go either way.
ââ¬ÅIf it goes the way of Zambia they will have six points and if Sudan wins then the table will remain as it is.
ââ¬ÅBut in other way, Ghana can still top the group if we win all our matches so that is where our focus is.
ââ¬ÅSo everyone should remain calm and trust in the Black Stars that at the end of the day we will qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.ââ¬
Sudan however have a strong argument as Zambia failed to lodge the protest within the 72 hour period prescribed by the Fifa regulations.
