Ghana FA election fixed for 17 June, after disqualified aspirants lose appeal

Published on: 20 May 2011

The Executive Committee of the Ghana FA has fixed 17 June for the presidential elections after the Dispute Resolution Committee rejected an appeal by two disqualified candidates, GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively reveal.

The Elections Committee rejected the candidatures of Neil Amstrong-Mortabe and Vincent Sowah Odotei because of the problems of getting ten voters each to nominate them to stand the election.

Some were said to have forged the signatures of team owners which goes against article 28.6 of the GFA Statutes.

The duo decided to contest the decision and a neutral panel sat on the case and threw out their appeal after three weeks.

This mean incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi will be elected unopposed.
