Ghana goalkeeper George Owu has been invited by the police to answer to charges of assault visited on journalist Kwame Yeboah on Sunday.

The Skyy FM reporter claims he was assaulted by the goalkeeper and the deputy physio of Hasaacas while conducting an interview after a Premier League game at the Sekondi Essipong Stadium.

Yeboah claimed: “George Owu and Ibrahim Tetteh – the deputy Hasaacas physio – attacked me while doing my work,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“They say I was the reason the goalkeeper is not being considered for national team assignments because I criticize him.

“And that as a ‘home boy’ I was to look for the best interest of the player.”

Yeboah has since lodged a complaint at Sekondi Police Station who have invited the ex Black Stars goalkeeper to come and answer to the allegations levelled against him.

Owu was a member of the Black Stars squad that played in their maiden World Cup campaign in Germany 2006.
