Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah is on the verge of completing a move to Empoli before the Italian transfer window shuts on Friday.

Ghana’s leading football website, GHANASoccernet.com have been reporting Empoli’s pursuit of the Ghana international  since the beginning of July and the player has been keen on the switch throughout.

The 26-year-old’s current deal with the Grenades was due to expire at the end of the season and there had been interest from multiple clubs, including SPAL, Udinese, Chievo and West Bromwich Albion.

Report reaching GHANASoccernet.com indicate that, Acquah will sign the dotted line for the newly-promoted Empoli before the window closes today.

The Italian transfer window will shut at 19:00 GMT.

Acquah could mark his debut for the side in the Serie A opener against Cagliari on Sunday.
