Ghana star Andre Ayew hails competitive Turkish Super Lig

Ghana international Andre Ayew has lauded the level and intensity of the Turkish Super Lig, insisting the league deserves respect.

The 28-year-old joined the Yellow Canaries on a season-long loan deal from English Championship outfit Swansea City AFC ahead of the current season.

He has made four appearances in the Super Lig for Fenerbance - netting once in the process which was against Kayserispor last weekend.

The former West Ham United player stated that one needs to be physically and mentally fit to play in Turkey's top flight league.

"It's early to talk. We have played a couple of games, but it is a very different league than the league of England and France," Ayew said on Fanatik.

"You must not underestimate any opponent. You should run a lot in this league. You must be physically and mentally ready.

"I will know the league better with time. The matches we played in our own home are different, but there is a league that deserves respect," he said.

"Even small teams are making transfers and very good footballers come here. The Turkish League is being respected in the world."

Fenerbahce will take on Konyaspor away in their next league game on September 16.
