Ghana will defend its Africa U20 title in South African after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) agreed to move the tournament to the country that hosted 2010 World Cup.
CAF announced that the 2011 CAF African Youth Championship will take place in South Africaà between 17 April to 2 May.
The event was originally due to be held inà Libya between 18 March and 1 April but was postponed indefinitely earlier this month.
This came in the wake of security concerns caused by the current political situation in the country.
ââ¬ÅWe decided to move the African Youth Championship toà South Africa and it will be played from 17 April to 2 May,â⬠said CAF President Issa Hayatou.
ââ¬ÅThe Executive Committee took that decision on Tuesday.ââ¬
The four teams that reach the semi-finals of the competition will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011, which will take place between 29 July and 20 August.
The Black Satellites won the last tournament held in Rwanda are favourites to retain the title having won the World Cup.
Ghana are likely to camp abroad before the tournament takes place.
