Ghana's Under-20 team arrived in South Africa on Thursday ahead of the defence of the 2011 African Youth Championship which begins on Sunday.

The team ended their one-week training tour of the market Rift Province of Naivasha, Kenya on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over second-tier side Oserian FC.

Head coach Orlando Wellington and his charges have touched at their new base in Soweto ahead of their opening game against perennial rivals Nigeria at the Dobsonville Stadium.

"We've arrived safely in South Africa and we’re poised for action. The only disappointment is that the publicity for the championship is very low here but that’s not our concern. We’re here to attempt to defend the trophy," Ghana Under-20 management committee chairman Jordan Anagbla told GHANAsoccernet.com.

All matches will have free entry but will be ticketed for safety reasons.
