Ghana U23 coach names eight foreign-based stars in starting XI to face Gabon; Bernard Tekpetey dropped

Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko has named eight foreign-based players in his starting XI to face Gabon in their CAF U23 Cup of Nations penultimate qualifying round first leg tie but in-form striker Bernard Tekpetey is on the bench.

The Paderborn ace has been one of the best players in the German Bundesliga II and on nine goals in 25 league appearances .

He played at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

But Tanko has decided to start his attack with Sparta Prague's Benjamin Tetteh -on ten league goals in 25 appearances in the Czech Republic has joined the team.

He will be paired with Kwabena Owusu of Spanish Segunda side Salamanca has made a return to the team after scoring a hat-trick in the 5-1 drubbing of Togo in the previous qualifying round.

Talented Yaw Yeboah will play behind the two attackers and the midfield also includes Liberty Professionals Simon Zibo, Joseph Paintsil and Osmanu Bukari.

FC St Gallen defender Musah Nuhu and Zakaria Fuseini start as centre-backs and Gideon Mensah of Sturm Graz plays as left back with Kingsley Fobi on the right.
