Ghana wary of Nations Cup surprises - Gyan

Asamoah Gyan is not amazed at the early shocks at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations but insists such development will not befall Ghana.

The Al Ain striker has made a full recovery to lead the Black Stars attack in their Group D opener against Botswana in Franceville.

The four-time CAN winners are expected to annihilate the Zebras on Tuesday but results so far in the competition suggests otherwise.

Whereas fellow favourites, Senegal were dealt a shocking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Zambia, number one picks, Cote d’Ivoire were not overwhelmingly convincing in their 1-0 win over Sudan.

And this has caused wariness on the part of Gyan though he is confident the trend ends with the Black Stars.

"Before the tournament I said to myself that there might be surprises and that is what everybody should expect because those qualified are also here to win the Cup," Gyan told GHANAsoccernet.com

"There might be surprises but we the Ghana team we are always positive and we know what we can do on the field so we are ready to play any team at all."
