Government has executed its role to enable Ghana lift the 2012 African Cup of Nations, according to Deputy Sports Minister Nii Nortey Dua.

The government has released just over US$ 5m for the Black Stars campaign at the tournament which runs from 21 January-12 February in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The amount covers the expenditure of the team which includes accommodation, camping cost, feeding, per diem, transport, winning bonuses, security and other exigencies.

"We have provided everything they need and so there can’t be any excuses this time around," Dua said.

"Issues bordering on accommodation, winning bonuses, per diems and others have been sorted out and what is left is for them to win the cup.

"The government has fulfilled its part of the agreement and we hope they can finally help us win the title for the first time in so many years."

The Black Stars have pitched camp in South Africa where Serbian trainer Goran Stevanovic is getting the team in shape.

Ghana last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1982.
