Gyan blasts Nyaho-Tamakloe for criticizing his Ghana return

Published on: 26 July 2012

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has launched a blistering attack on Nyaho Tamakloe over his reaction to his return to the Black Stars.

The controversial football figure heavily criticized the Ghana Football Association for re-admitting the Al Ain attacker into the Black Stars after he went on a self-imposed leave.

The 26-year-old took a termporal break from the national team after he suffered a torrent of abuse after missing a semi-final penalty at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations against eventual winners Zambia.

But he rescinded his decision after five months, claiming he has recovered from the psychological trauma.

His return however was met with mixed reactions and the former Ghana Football Association boss did not mince words in expressing his disappointment at his re-admission into the team.

The astute football administrator claimed the move was in bad taste and a recipe for setting a bad precedent for players to decide when they want to play for the national team.

But the former Sunderland man says he is shocked at his outbust but remains focus on his career.

“The man is fond of doing that, I believe he is an elderly person but he remarks on most of us the Black Stars players have been very distasteful,” Gyan is quoted by the Captivating Ghana Sports newspaper.

“I don’t even know him, who is he? To be honest I don’t know him in person. Even if I meet him I can’t recongnize him so I am surprised how he reacts to issues concerning my persona especially and other Black Stars players in general,”

“This is not the first time, during the nation’s cup in 2008, he passed a similar demoralizing comment about me,”

“It is quite unfortunate but I won’t want to pay attention to his comments, what is important for me now is to concentrate on my return to the Black Stars and do well to impress my fans.”

Ex-Ghana striker Augustine Arhinful recently took a massive dig at the astute football administrator for his outbust on Black Stars players.

The former Hearts of Oak president has also been a consistent crusader of retiring ageing players in the side to make way for younger ones.
