Ex-Ghana defender Habib Mohammed says he is close to agreeing a deal to join Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea next season.

The 27-year-old has returned home following the expiration of a two-year- contract with Egyptian side Smouha FC.

The former King Faisal defender is keen to re-launch his career and claims negotiation between him and the club is at an advanced stage.

"I am back in the country and hopefully I should join Chelsea at the beginning of next season. Discussions so far have been fruitful and I will like to join a club that is capable of winning laurels like the Premier League," the left-back told GHANAsoccernet.com

"They have done well and if you look at what they are doing, I think it is the best club for me at the moment."

Hohammed was voted the league's best defender in 2004 and played for Ghana at the 2006 Fifa World Cup in Germany.
