Striker Majeed Waris played his first match for Nantes in their 3-1 defeat at home to Monaco on Saturday in their opening French Ligue 1 match.

The Ghana international was introduced in the 72nd minute to replace Kalifa Coulibaly.

He is on a season-long loan move from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Waris made his name in Ligue 1 Conforama while playing for Valenciennes FC for the second half the 2013-14 season on loan from Spartak Moscow.

He bagged no fewer than nine goals in 16 league appearances.

The 26-year-old returned to Ligue 1 Conforama in 2015 with FC Lorient and played for two-and-a-half seasons stint in Brittany where he netted 25 goals in 73 appearances.
