How invited Black Stars players performed over the weekend ahead of 'double header'
Black Stars have qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Ghanasoccernet brings to you the performances of the selected Ghanaian players to feature for the Black Stars in the AFCON qualifier against Kenya and friendly against Mauritania. T

Twenty-four players have been invited by Kwesi Appiah for the game and we bring to you a comprehensive report on how they fared with their clubs over the weekend before joining the national team.

In South Africa, Richard Ofori was in post for Martizburg United as they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns by 2-1 in the PSL in mid-week. Ofori manned the post for 90 minutes and he is expected to take the number one position for the Black Stars ahead of the Kenya game.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi was on the bench for Sochaux over the weekend as his side drew against Troyes in the Ligue 2.

Felix Annan was also in action for Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup against Zesco United conceding two goals which saw his team exit the tournament.

On the performance of the defenders over the weekend, Kwadwo Asamoah helped Inter Milan defeat neighbor’s AC Milan in the Milan derby on Sunday. Kwadwo Asamoah played the full throttle for Inter and he is expected to replicate that fine form for the Black Stars.

Lumor Agbenyenu played the full throttle for Gotzepe as they lost by a lone goal to Besiktas.

In the Championship, Andy Yiadom lasted 90 minutes for Reading as they held Stoke City to a goalless draw.

Amos Frimpong was in action for Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup game against Zesco United which they lost 2-1. Amos Frimpong had a quite game in that fixture. Nuhu Kassim missed Hoffenheim’s game over the weekend against Stuttgart.

Nicholas Opoku also missed Udinese’s game over the weekend against Napoli in the Serie A.  Joseph Aidoo warmed the bench for KRC Genk as they drew 3-3 against Waregem.

On the performance of the midfielders, Andre Ayew played 90 minutes for Fenerbahce in their 2-1 win over Sivasspor.

Mubarak Wakaso saw six minutes of action for Alaves in their 3-1 win over Huesca. Cristian Astu lasted 19 minutes for Newcastle United as they drew 2-2 against Bournemouth. Kwame Bonsu played a role in Kotoko’s defeat by Zesco United in Zambia on Sunday.

Thomas Partey played 90 minutes for Atletico Madrid as they lost 2-0 to Atletico Bilbao.

Alhassan Wakaso played 90 minutes Guimaraes as they won 3-1 against Boavista. Alfred Duncan lasted 90 minutes for Sassuolo as they were thrashed at home by Sampdora Duncan scored in the game for his side which ended 5-3.

In the FA Cup, Jeffrey Schlupp played 90 minutes for Crystal Palace as they lost 2-1 to Watford. Ernest Asante was not in action for Al Jazira over the weekend as they had their game postponed.

On the part of the attackers, Jordan Ayew warmed the bench for Crystal Palace as they lost to Watford in the FA Cup.

Caleb Ekuban also played the full throttle for Trabzonspor in their 1-0 win over Erzurum BB.

Emmanuel Boateng played his first game for the Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang's 1-1 draw at Henan Jianye two weeks ago.

Kwesi Appiah warmed the bench for AFC Wimbledon against Southend United over the weekend
