How will be Arsenal’s new season?

Published on: 06 August 2019

Arsenal are entering the new Premier League season 2019/2020 with a hope to finally challenge the top spot and get more involved in the title race. Is that going to be possible? This is the second edition under Unai Emery as the new boss after the big departure of Arsene Wenger. The Gunners haven’t been very active yet during the summer transfer window, so the fans are not sure how to feel about upcoming matches. Arsenal had a strong start last year, but the second part of the season was disappointing if we exclude Europa League finals. Emery has a lot of things to prove in the upcoming months. Will the crowd back him in case of a loss or two in the opening weeks?

The Gunners ended the previous EPL campaign in not so bad 5th position. After losing the initial derby matches to Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal was undefeated for fourteen games straight. The odds were on their side to claim a spot for UEFA Champions League at that moment, but no one was aware of the inconsistency coming into their lines during the winter. London squad has lost four out of the last seven outings and lost the race for the fourth position, just one point behind the city rivals Tottenham Hotspur. ’We have checked with the main betting sites in the UK and they have confirmed that there are lots of bets being collected on Arsenal to finish in the top 4’ said John Pentin, editor in chief of Bettingtips4you.

Who is going to be the key players in season 2019/2020? Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has won the PL Golden Boot Award in the previous year. However, many experts will agree Aubameyang underperformed in key matches, wasting a lot of goal opportunities which could have had a direct impact on the final standings. There were some rumors of this Gabon striker moving to Old Trafford in August, but nothing really happened. He is once again going to be paired with a goal machine Alexandre Lacazette. This duo is surely going to represent a big threat for all Premier League clubs.

When it comes to the recent and biggest signings, Arsenal FC has broken all records by signing Nicolas Pepe, one of the best players from French Ligue 1 last season. Pepe helped Lille OSC to be placed really high and participate in the UCL this season. He scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in the last year. William Saliba has also arrived in the Emirates, being marked as one of the biggest rising stars in Europe. He is only 17 years old at the moment, playing the position of defender. Some of the other transfers worth mentioning are Dani Ceballos who arrived from Real Madrid on loan deal. We also were able to see young Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli in action during the International Champions Cup. The overall feeling is that Emery just continued where Wenger stopped when it comes to young French acquisitions. When it comes to departures, all the drama surrounding Laurent Koscielny is finally going to end in the upcoming days. The former captain has refused to travel to the US with the rest of the team for a pre-season tour, and he will most likely join Bordeaux.

Arsenal is starting their new Premier League adventure on 11th August on the road against Newcastle United. The first home appearance is going to be six days after against Burnley, followed with a big derby match and a trip to the Anfield on 24th August. These guys are always up to date when it comes to the latest promotions and welcome packages.
