In-form Asec Mimosas forward Amed Toure has been named as the best African-based player for Burkina Faso after overcoming competition from Asante Kotoko hitman Sogne Yacouba.

Toure has become a key figure for the Ivorian giants since joining from Ghana Premier League side Bechem United last year - where he has scored 24 goals in all competitions.

The former Asante Kotoko marksman beat competition from his team mate Souleymane Kouada, Bassirou Ouedraogo of Horoya AC Guinea, ILyassou Sanou of River United FC Nigeria and Asante Kotoko striker Songne Yacouba to win the coveted accolade for the year 2017/2018.

The 5th edition of the ceremony which was held in Ouagadougou, on Thursday night saw the former Asante Kotoko striker’s hard work acknowledged with the prestigious award.
