Tehran: Islamic Republic of Iran’s recently-appointed head coach Marc Wilmots has named his squad of 25 players, ahead of their friendlies in June.

Two Team Melli veterans has been left out of the Belgian’s list, Ashkan Dejagah and Saman Ghoddos.

Both played vital roles in assisting Iran to a semi-final finish in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 last January.

Several familiar names, however, have been called up with goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, defender Morteza Pouraliganji and strikers Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Mehdi Taremi, Karim Ansarifard and Sardar Azmoun all called up.

Iran will play their first international friendly match under Wilmots against Syria at home on June 6, before travelling to Seoul to play Korea Republic five days later.
