Ghana captain John Mensah believes there is a perfect blend of experienced and youthful players for the 2012 Nations Cup finals.

The centre-back is one of two players in Ghana's squad with three appearances.

The current Black Stars squad has ten players from the side which won silver at the last Nations Cup finals.

Mensah admits that head coach Goran Stevanovic has had a mix experienced and ready-to-die youngsters.

"We have a good number of experienced players together with youth and we work well as a team," Mensah told www.ghanafa.org.

"Of course, our target is to always win in every game. I don't think having more youthful players rules out any team's chances. It depends on the team."

Seven debutants including youngsters Jordan Ayew, Massawudu Alhassan and Mohammed Abu are set for the tournament.

But the Lyon player says the rookie have the credentials to meet expectations.

"It's about maturity and understanding of the game. You cannot judge a player by his age. We only have to give confidence to them to play and keep on telling them that they can do it and we can make it as a team."

"What is also important is their [youth] commitment and desire to win," he said.
