Jonathan Mensah ready to stand-in for suspended Mensah

Defender Jonathan Mensah is hoping to fill the void in Ghana backline at the Africa Cup of Nations for the clash against Mali on Saturday.

The Evian TG player is highly fancied to start in the absence of suspended duo Isaac Vorsah and John Mensah.

The 21-year-old excelled as a bit-part player at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals and hopes to impress again.

''It's going to be a huge responsibility but I have been in such a situation before and so I will give more than 100% for this game,'' Mensah told GHANAsoccernet.com

"We have to keep our eyes on the ball because the game against the Malians won't come easy for us.

"The fact that we're on the same points put some sort of pressure on both of us and this is where team character will be crucial."

Ghana's match against Mali will be hugely contested with the winner in a comfortable position to qualify.
