Juventus to battle Liverpool over Bayern Munich forward

Published on: 01 March 2016

Serie A table-toppers Juventus are reportedly set to duel with Liverpool for Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze.

The 23-year-old German international has been a transfer target for the Bianconeri since last summer, and in July, they are going to try once more to lure the World Cup winner to Turin.

According to the Daily Express, Liverpool are following Gotze as well, as a result of an explicit request by Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp, who coached the forward at Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze’s deal with Bayern Munich expires in June 2017, and he has a currently estimated market value of over €40 million.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus will place a bid in the summer, hoping their good relationship with their Champions League round of 16 opponents will help them to close the deal.

The German international has only managed to accumulate 11 appearances among all competitions in this season, largely due to an injury that kept him out from November to February.
