Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has been criticised by Kenya coach Sebastien Migne for not turning up for international duty.

He was called up by Kenya for their Afcon qualifier against Ghana despite failing to play a minute for his club this season.

Wanyama did make it as far as the bench for Sunday’s defeat to Watford but Tottenham believe they communicated through official channels that he would not be available to Kenya.

They wanted him to remain at Tottenham to continue his rehabilitation from a knee injury, but Migne said: “Wanyama should have travelled so that our medical staff can assess his injury. We should be a bit professional in such situations.

“Even Hugo Lloris is injured but he reported to the French camp. We should change such attitudes going forward.”
