Konadu remains rooted despite dream start as Kotoko coach

Maxwell Konadu has watered down praises heaped on his team following the impressive 3-1 win over rivals, Hearts of Oak on Saturday.

The 38-year-old has become an instant hit after guiding the Kumasi-based club to a famous win over their bitterest rivals to clinch the maiden two-legged Super 2 charity match.

With all three leading strikers (Ahmed Toure, Nathaniel Asamoah and Kofi Nti-Boakye) getting on the score sheets, fans and sections of the media have already started touting the relatively new team to brush aside all opponents in sight but this the coach says, will take much more time to achieve.

“The team is tactically very good but it is too early to conclude that it will beat every team,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com after presiding over his first official game as head coach in Accra.

“We have almost a new team which can only get better and better but we must take one step at a time.”

Konadu however believes with the performance displayed against Hearts, there is only one direction the team is headed, up.

“I was very satisfied with the performance of the boys; they showed a lot of determination because it is always not easy playing Hearts of Oak especially in Accra.

“Like I said before, they are tactically very good so we now have to work on other aspects of the game before we can have the team we always dream of,” he added.
