Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko Dr. Kwame Kyei has urged players of the club to work harder as they seek to reach the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup.

In a new year message to the club, Dr. Kyei commended the players for a good 2018 but quickly admitted the task is even bigger in 2019.

He then challenged the players to give their best this year with the objective of making an impact in the CAF Confederations Cup.

"I will like to remind you that the task of reaching the group stage of the Confederation and going ahead to make a significant impact in the competition is still on. That's where your focus should be now with the holidays over."

"The task is big and cannot be accomplished without you being tactically discipline. Listen to the coach, get to understand what he demands of you and strive to implement", he continued.

Dr. Kyei continued: "We  did well last year but the challenge is even bigger this year so you must work harder this term than you did last year."

"I wish you all a happy New Year and pray that we gather here at this same time next year to count our successes in all the things that we have set out to do this year, " he concluded

Asante Kotoko will face Cameroonian champions Coton Sports de Garoua in the play-offs of the CAF Confederations Cup with the first leg scheduled for the weekend of January 11-13th.
