Kotoko caretaker coach bemoans 'wasteful' strikers

Asante Kotoko caretaker coach Malik Jabir says the team's strikers need remedial amount of work to get into shape before the start of the season.

Kotoko in the absence of Ahmed Toure were wasteful in attack against Hearts of Oak in a friendly as lead marksman Nathaniel Asamoah fluffed his lines.

The Porcupine Warriors came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with their arch-rivals.

"Our finishing in the first half wasn't too good enough but for that this shouldn't have been the scoreline," Jabir said in a post match interview.

"Since we are making 'shifting and filling', I hope within two weeks we will get a team out of that."

Kotoko sold strikers Alex Asamoah and Samad Oppong in the summer but have brought in Ben Acheampong and Kofi Nti Boakye.

The 21-time champions begin their campaign against promoted Tema Youth in Tema.
