Asante Kotoko have appointed Karim Zito as the club’s reserves and development coach.

Zito rejoins the backroom staff of his boyhood club after he left Nigerien side Sahel Sporting club.

The former King Faisal coach played for Kotoko as a youngster and helped them clinch the African Clubs Championship Cup in 1983.

“It is true that I have been appointed. But I am going to take charge of the youth side. I am going to do that in conusltaion with the head coach,” Zito told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“I am going to be in charge of the under- 20, under-17, going round sctouting for players  in order to shore up exploits of the club,”

“This is what people do outside. Kotoko is going the professional way and that is how it is being done,”

“So you look for someone who knows a lot about youth development. So he can groom them to become top players for Asante Kotoko,”

“It reduces the stress that comes with searching for players. It will help to build a concept for the club so any coach that comes may be compelled to work with the technical philosophy of the club."

The Ghanaian champions are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to retain the Premier League Crown and qualify to the group phase of the Caf Champions League next term.
