Kotoko striker Nat Asamoah named in Ghana squad for double header

Published on: 24 August 2011

Asante Kotoko striker Nathaniel Asamoah has been included in Ghana's 23-man squad for next month's double header against Swaziland and Brazil.

The quicksilver forward is said to have impressed head coach Goran Stevanovic during the club's pre-season tour to Serbia.

Asamoah scored 14 goals for Kotoko last season to finish third on the scorers chart.

The Serb is keen on handing debuts for goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey and winger Albert Adomah who earned their first Ghana call-ups for last month's botched friendly.

He joins Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper Ernest Sowah as the only locally-based players in the squad.

Striker Jordan Ayew will also return to team, 12 months after playing his last game for the 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists against Sudan in at home in the Nations Cup qualifiers.

The list excludes AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The Black Stars will host Swaziland in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Accra on 2 September and play five-time world champions Brazil at Craven Cottage.
