Kotoko tame Lions to stay top

Asante Kotoko maintained lead at top of the Ghana Premier League table after a 2-0 win over Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium.

In-form Ivorian marksman Ahmed Toure opened the scoring on headed home the opener in the 8th minute.

Right-back made surging run from defence and beat a Lions defender before dashing to the wings to send in a cross which was connected by Toure.

His strike partner Nathaniel Asamoh doubled the lead in the 26th minute.

Asamoah raced to pick a pass from David Offei and skipped inside the box before firing home for the second goal.

But he was stretchered off in 67th minute when he collided with Lions goalkeeper Osei Bonsu.

Lions came back strongly in the second half but could converted scoring chances created with striker Gilbert Fiamenyo the worst culprit.

Kotoko are on top with ten points.
