Asante Kotoko striker Ahmed Toure will no longer pursue his nationality switch in order to play for Ghana, sources close to the player have told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Rather, the 24-year-old has decided to feature for his native Cote d'Ivoire, thus beating an astonishing u-turn following his public declaration of his wish to play for the Black Stars.

Officials of the Ivorian football federation met with the player on Thursday to assure him of a place with the national team in future.

And with the nationality switch process believed to have been initiated by Kotoko a few months ago moving at a slow pace, Toure has decided to feature for the country of his birth.

The news will definitely disappoint many especially the Kotoko fans who were hoping their idol who they believe is good enough for a Black Stars spot get cleared to play for Ghana.
