Failure to win any silverware with the national team was probably the only regret ex Ghana international, Samuel Osei-Kuffour had during his playing days.

Kuffour was a member of a golden generation of Ghanaian players who won the nation’s first World Cup at U-17 level in 1991.

He moved on after that tournament in Italy to become one of Ghana’s most decorated players in club football, with majority of his titles won during his twelve year stay with German giants, Bayern Munich.

Kuffour however failed miserably to translate his highly impressive club honours to the Black Stars and he says now looking back, would perhaps be his only regret while he was active.

“I won everything there is to win in club football but somehow I was unable to do same with the national team,” he told the OtiAdjei report.

“When I sit down now and I think of not being able to win anything with the Black Stars, it kills me.”

The 35-year-old who officially brings his playing career to an end in December with a testimonial match noted his participation in the senior world cup in 2006 as his highest point but insists nothing beats winning a major title with the national team.

“I made it to Ghana’s World Cup in Germany but really, winning something would have been far better,” he added.
