Lazio director wants them to raised the mentality in clash with Inter

Lazio director Igli Tare wants them to “raised the mentality” in tonight’s clash with Inter, but insists this title push is not entirely a surprise. "We've had Scudetto bonuses for years."

“This is an important match, but it is not decisive,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must keep doing what we’ve done so far, without feeling extra pressure. We have brought great enthusiasm to the city, we can feel the energy during the week and have to feed on that.”

The Biancocelesti are challenging for the top spot, going into this weekend one point behind joint leaders Inter and Juventus, but it seems Tare is not entirely shocked by their results.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told Rai Sport today that he was cheering on Lazio for the title.

“Didn’t he also say that he doesn’t follow Italian football very much?” smiled Tare.

“I would be a liar if I said that we’d never thought about it, as for years we put Scudetto prize clauses into the contracts of new players coming here.”

Which signing is Tare most proud of bringing to the Olimpico?

“I would be unfair to name anyone in particular, but if you asked about Luis Alberto and Felipe Caicedo, you wouldn’t be far wrong.

“I think that our work over the long run paid off, we did well to maintain patience with taking a path that many people didn’t believe in at the beginning.

“Now the idea is to improve the mentality of a team that needs to get back into the top level of European football.”
