Mali coach Giresse eyes Ghana scalp to seal second round place

Mali coach Alain Giresse says he wants to beat Ghana on Sunday to make sure their place in the second round is secured before the final round of matches in Group D of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Giresse's side come up against joint-toppers Ghana in Saturday's clash at the Stade de Franceville.

But ahead of the game, the Frenchman says he wants to secure a win against Ghana before tackling the final group game Botswana next week.

"Ghana is a very strong team and will be a big mistake to underestimate them. They have quality players and our aim will be to get all three points from them," Giresse said at his team's base in Bongoville.

"For us, our mind is set on going all the way which means getting every point. Though Ghana will be very tough, our focus is enough motivation going into the game."

Giresse adds: "There are no underdogs in the group knowing how Botswana played against Ghana.

"For that reason, we will like to get all the points even before our last game since it will make things easy for our progress."
