McClaren sack rumours yet to be confirmed

Published on: 10 March 2016

A number of reports have began circulating this afternoon that Newcastle United have sacked manager Steve McClaren and are set to replace him with former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, however this is yet to be confirmed by the club.

The Chief writer of the Newcastle Chronicle, Lee Ryder, has confimed the club have 'not said anything about the ex-England managers departure from the club and that he has not been sacked yet'. The next few hours are expected to reveal more in this on-going story.

Steve McClaren has endured a torrid time so far on Tyneside, averaging just 0.86 points per game in the Premier League this season. Conversely, his potential replacement Rafael Benitez, has the seventh best win ratio of any manager to have taken charge of at least 50 Premier League games.
