Medeama fight back to down Jets

SC Medeama fought from behind to beat Mighty Jets 2-1 in the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Striker Abubakar Sidi shot Jets ahead three minutes before the interval but Kwabena Adusei equalised in the 66th minute to score his second goal in three days.

Osei Berko sealed the maximum points for Medeama with fine volley a minute from time.

The game witnessed violence after regulation time as Jets supporters invaded the pitch to attack match officials and Coach Ben Foster.

Coach Bashir Hayford named new Ghana winger Richard Mpong on the flanks while Larbi Koomson and returnee Kabiru Moro were both handed starting roles.

Hans Kwoffie was left out of the trip due to his 'psychological problem' and striker Louis Agyemang led the attack.

The host had the swashbuckling winger Tamimu Montari and Emmanuel Laryea in their attack.

Medeama returned to the venue where they suffered a painful 2-1 defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak under controversial circumstances last December.

Mighty Jets were irresistible in the opening 20 minutes and should have scored the opener but dangerman Tamimu Montari well struck left-footed drive was palmed away by Mozart Adjetey.

Jacob Apau and Kwabena Adusei were impressive and kept Jets in a backs-against-the-wall position after 25 minutes.

There was too much profligacy on the part of Benjamin Eli as the midfielder squandered two glorious chances in the space of two minutes.

Richmond Nketiah came close on the 40th minute as his powerful drive rattled the side net.

Three minutes later, the opener arrived and it came through talented forward Sidi Abubakar.

The forward raced clear off his marker before burying the ball at the far left.

Medeama returned from the break and pressed home the equaliser.

Adusei scored his second goal in three days .

Jets fought to restore their lead but it was Medeama who snatched the match winner a minute from time through Osei Berko.
