Medeama SC have confirmed newly-signed striker Tanko Mohammed will be out for up to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his knee.

The 22-year-old tore his meniscus in the off-season and that led to recurrent injuries.

He went under the knife at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Sunday to correct the problem which will mean he will likely miss the first half of the season.

The hitman is yet to make his debut for the Mauves and Yellows since he joined them this term.

Mohammed returned to the local scene after a one-year loan spell at Spanish third-tier side CD Leganés.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Club Deportivo Teruel.
