Ghana midfielder Rahim Ayew is expected to return to active play in three weeks, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 23-year-old has been out with a groin injury for about a month but has started individual training on his way to a full recovery.

A medical assessment of the SK Lierse enforcer’s injury during the week revealed the 5-inches tear in his groin has healed by 3-inches.

He will continue to train on his own with daily gym works throughout next week before being introduced to kicking a ball.

Ayew’s form was on a gradual leap before suffering the setback but he is very hopefully of making an even better comeback when finally cleared to play.

“I have been working twice everyday with the club’s medical team mainly in the gym and the signs are already looking very encouraging,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I am at this point fully concentrated on regaining my fitness but I am very much convinced my form will return when I am cleared to play.”
