MILAN, 2019/20 CAMP: THE FIRST SESSION

Published on: 10 July 2019

AC Milan completed their first training session of the new season at Milanello today. The 29 players named in the squad for AC Milan's camp were greeted by a large crowd outside the gates of Milanello as they arrived at the training centre this morning. There were a total of four absentees – Kessié, Cutrone, Paquetá and Laxalt – who have been on international duty and who will join the group over the next few weeks. The team took to Pitch 6 at around 18:00 and were given a rapturous reception by the Rossneri fans present. A practice match wasn't played, but the Rossoneri players remained on the pitch for over an hour and were really put through their paces by Coach Giampaolo and his staff.

After doing running work along the sides of the pitch to kick things off, AC Milan's outfield players alternated between moving with the ball and focusing on fitness. At the same time, the four goalkeepers began their warm-up together with the Rossoneri's new coaches Luigi Turci and Emiliano Betti with the help of obstacles. They then practised coming off their line and getting down low in the process. During the session, the players stopped a few times to take in some fluids in the middle of the pitch. Coach Giampaolo then divided the players into two groups: the first set of players focused on ball possession on a reduced section of the pitch – an intense and dynamic exercise. The second group, meanwhile, once again worked on fitness. Shortly after 19:00 CEST, it was time to finish for the day: the Coach brought play to a halt as the fans applauded in the background. The first session of the new season was over.
