MLS new boys FC Cincinnati set to sign Ghana striker striker David Accam from Philadelphia Union

Major Soccer League debutante FC Cincinnati are set to draft David Accam from Philadelphia Union ahead of the next season, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

The debut season of the Ghanaian was ravaged by an injury back in October, ruling him out of the recently concluded season.

FC Cincinnati, who begin their MLS play in 2019 as a club in the Eastern Conference, have targeted the Ghana international.

Accam, 28, has been identified as one of five current players in the Major Soccer League to help shape the core of their inaugural roster and could be selected during the Expansion Draft, expected to be released on Monday, December 10.

The Ghana international had a surgery in October to fix  the lingering effects of a sports hernia operation he underwent last November, effectively ending his season.

Union officials were aware of the forward's situation when they signed him in a draft-day trade with Chicago Fire in January.

However, the Ghanaian failed to fully recover as expected as he scored just a goal and provided no assist this year.

FC Cincinnati will likely take the gamble and engage in a draft-trade with Philadelphia Union for his signature.
