Ghana midfielder Mohammed Rabiu played his first competitive match in two years after recovering from a career threatening injury by playing in the Russian top-flight match over the weekend.

The former Liberty Professional ace played the entire duration in Anzhi Makhachkala's 1-0 win at Ural in the Russian Premier League opener on Saturday.

The combative midfielder lasted the entire duration as he did not show any signs of rustiness.

Rob re-signed for the club after recovering from that long layoff.

His last match was on 17 April, 2016 when he featured for Kuban Kransnodar in their 1-0 defeat to Rostov in the Russian top-flight.

Rabiu picked up a yellow card in the 52nd minute as Paul Viorel Anton's goal gave the visitors the points.
