Montella: Palermo a dangerous opponent for Sampdoria

Published on: 19 December 2015

Sampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella believes his players must play with intelligence when they face Palermo at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday afternoon.

The 41-year-old recently stated he has no regrets about taking the Blucerchiati job despite a difficult start to his reign and expects a tough game against a well-drilled Rosanero outfit.

“Tomorrow we will face a very dangerous opponent,” Montella told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

“It is important that we take to the field in the right frame of mind if we want to achieve victory.

“We will need to play with great intelligence as we will come up against a well-organised team with some good players that know how to hit on the break.”

Montella was has been satisfied with recent performances and the commitment shown by his squad.

“Against Lazio, we showed that we have a strong group,” he added.

“The late goal proves that we are together. We played three games in six days and are showing some positives signs.

“We now must be prepared for Sunday. We will need a lot of patience, but we are on the right track. We are living with the pressure and giving it our best every week.”
