Mubarak Wakaso picks AFCON 2013 in South Africa as his best tournament

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa in 2013 will remain his best tournament in a national jersey.

Despite being a member of the team that reached the final of the Nations Cup in 2015 in Equatorial Guinea, Wakaso enjoys the memories from South Africa the most.

“2015 AFCON can be one of the best tournaments I have had with Ghana but I think South Africa was my best AFCON,' he told FootballmadeinGhana.com.

“I had my first AFCON in South Africa and my best too. Just that in 2015 we reached the finals, that is the difference,” he added.

Wakaso was one of Ghana's revelation at the competition after scoring four games as the Black Stars finished fourth at the competition.

The Deportivo Alaves midfielder is hoping AFCON 2019 will be an even better Cup of Nations, with the team seeking to end Ghana's drought for a major silverware.

The Black Stars will host Kenya on Saturday in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday in Accra.
