New Inter signing admits delight with move

Upon completion of his move from Sampdoria to Inter, Eder spoke of his delight with completing the switch to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Brazil-born Italy international had been linked with a move away from the Blucerchiati for the entirety of the January transfer window, with surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City also expressing an interest in his services.

“I am very happy to be here,” Eder said at his unveiling as a Nerazzurri player. “Many years of sacrifice and hard work have resulted in me signing for a big club like Inter.”

The 29-year-old admitted that there was an offer on the table from the Foxes, but once he learned of Inter’s interest, there was only ever going to be one destination for him.

“Yes, Leicester wanted me,” he revealed.

“However, as soon as I learned of Mr. Mancini’s interest, I made the decision to remain in Italy.

“I have been in Italy for 11 years now and I know the history of Inter. Coming here is a huge responsibility and a big challenge that I am looking forward to.

“I want to thank the president and everyone who gave me this opportunity.”

In 19 Serie A appearances for Samp so far this season, Eder has found the net on 12 occasions. With Roberto Mancini keen to see his side score more goals, the 51-year-old will be hoping his new signing can replicate this form at the San Siro.
