No Inter action for Lukaku

Published on: 19 July 2019

Romelu Lukaku, who is being linked with a transfer to Inter Milan, is not fit and will play no part in Manchester United's game against the Serie A side.

The Belgium international, who has also missed the pre-season matches against Perth Glory and Leeds United, will not be available for the Champions Cup clash in Singapore, according to United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"He's not fit so he won't be available," Solskjaer confirmed.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is reportedly keen to sign Lukaku, although there remains a significant distance between the two clubs' valuation of the player.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer has also announced that David De Gea and Luke Shaw could start the match against Inter. The Spanish goalkeeper missed the games against Perth and Leeds because of illness while Shaw picked up an injury against the A-League outfit.

"I think both will be available," the Norwegian added. "Luke did a decent training session before we left [Perth] and David is probably well enough to train. So we'll try to get 60 minutes or longer out of him."

Matteo Darmian and Fred have linked up with the squad to Solskjaer's delight, with the United boss saying of the pre-season tour so far: "Luke [Shaw] has missed a couple of days, Anthony [Martial] one day, but Romelu is the one who has missed the most.

"But it's been good, very encouraging and we're working on a few things. I think we've started well."

United, 21/20 to beat Inter Milan on Saturday, can be backed at 11/10 to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
