Nyantakyi arrives in Sudan to intensify Caf elections campaign

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has arrived in Sudan to intensify his campaign ahead of Wednesday's Caf Executive Committee elections.

Nyantakyi is facing a tough battle to win the West Africa Zone B slot of powerful executive committee which takes the key decision on African football.

The battle has been reduced to a three-man race following the withdrawal of Tata Avlessi Adaglo, a former President of the Togo Football Federation, who has now thrown his weight behind the GFA boss.

But Nyantakyi must see off Issa Hayatou's protege Anjorin Moucharafou and Hima Souley, a former President of the Niger Football Federation.

Moucharafou, the president of the Benin Football Federation, the poster boy of Hayatou and has been printing calendars in support of the controversial Cameroonian administrator.

While the presence of Souley could split the French-speaking votes which could favour Nyantakyi, the backing of Hayatou for Moucharafou is unruffling some feathers.

Nyantakyi will use the coming two days to campaign effectively campaign for the votes before Wednesday's elections.

The presence of a Ghanaian in the powerful executive committee will strongly enhance the country's course in major decisions.

Nyantakyi is seen by many as the finest candidate to improve Africa's game, having helped to transform the game in his country.

Nyantakyi who has been President of the GFA since December 2005 is seeking to become the fifth Ghanaian to serve on the CAF Executive Committee after Ohene Djan (1961-1966), Kobina Hagan (1961-1962), Nana Fredua Mensah (1968-1972) and Samuel Okyere (1990-1994).
