PARMA, LAURINI: “I”M HAPPY TO BE HERE AND WILL GIVE MY BEST”

Published on: 10 July 2019

“I started from a long way back, I started in Eccellenza and made it to Serie A TIM. I’m happy to be here at Parma.” This was Vincent Laurini, speaking for the first time as a Parma player in pre-season. At the camp in Prato allo Stelvio, the French player described how he felt. “Parma is a great club, with an incredible history. I’ll give my best and I hope to do well. Playing through the lower leagues shapes you, you have to give something extra. If we’re in Serie A TIM, it means that we’ve worked a lot but you need to keep it up. Serie A TIM is a league I know well, I’ve made over 100 appearances and now, I want to do well at Parma.”

“I’ve always come into winning groups and teams. When you win, there’s enthusiasm and something extra. I’ve felt good wherever I’ve been, both with my teammates and the city. I’m sure it will be the same in Parma, or even better.”

On his role: “I look to do well both in attack and defence but I can’t judge my own performances. First of all, a full-back has to defend so the main aim is not conceding goals. If I can give something going forwards, better still.”

Were you close you joining in the past? “Yes, it’s true that this move has been spoken about for a year. I wanted to come and it was my aim to do so. Nothing happened last year, I was very close in January but in the end, we decided I’d stay in Florence. As soon as it was June, the opportunity came up and I took it. I’m very happy to be here and I’ll give my best for this team.”

Parma has a great heritage of French players: “It’s true that a lot of French players have passed through here at Parma, lots of greats and they won a lot. They made history for this team and if I could do just one per cent of what they did, that would be enormous.”
