The Professional Footballers Association is in close consultations with officials of the Ghana Football Association to structure a retirement plan for its members.
The welfare body is proposing the putting away of a percentage of bonuses and other emoluments paid to players at all levels for their future benefit.
“We are in discussion with President Nyantakyi to see whether we can constitute a pension scheme for our players,†General Secretary of the Pfag Tony Baffoe told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“We can for instance put maybe 5% or 10% percentage of their bonuses away into an investment fund for their use when they retire.â€
The Pfag has been very active since their inception in 2010 and have recently been in the news for proposing payment of ex-gratia to retired footballers who served the nation with distinction.
