The Professional Footballers Association is in close consultations with officials of the Ghana Football Association to structure a retirement plan for its members.

The welfare body is proposing the putting away of a percentage of bonuses and other emoluments paid to players at all levels for their future benefit.

“We are in discussion with President Nyantakyi to see whether we can constitute a pension scheme for our players,” General Secretary of the Pfag Tony Baffoe told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We can for instance put maybe 5% or 10% percentage of their bonuses away into an investment fund for their use when they retire.”

The Pfag has been very active since their inception in 2010 and have recently been in the news for proposing payment of ex-gratia to retired footballers who served the nation with distinction.
